Two bridges and four freeway ramps would be removed. One bridge and one freeway ramp would be added. The I-8 Freeway cover of the flood control dam will be elevated on piers for about 2000 feet. Therefore the Freeway and Local Streets impacts increases the wetland area. Furthermore the I-8 relocation allows better resource preservation, more public use, more California history and wetland interpretation. Numerous cottonwood, sycamore, and willow trees will be planted to line the river and screen the freeways.
